150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi

The Embassy of India celebrated 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with a special function on the importance of Gandhian values in today's world. Honoring the Indian traditions, the event was inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony by Cd'A Shri Tshering W. Sherpa, renowned Israeli author Dr. Shimon Lev, members of the Indian diaspora and Israeli guests. Cd'A Shri Tshering W. Sherpa delivered the opening remarks where he emphasized on the role of and need for imbibing the spirit of Gandhian ideals in public service delivery and the centrality of Bapu's philosophy in modern Indian thought. Dr. Shimon Lev, author of several books on Gandhiji in both English and Hebrew languages spoke on how Bapu's life and message continues to inspire the world. The speeches were followed by a prize distribution ceremony for the winners of Quiz competition on Gandhiji, organized by the Embassy, as part of 'Bapu At 150' celebrations. An audio-visual presentation highlighting the various events organized by the Embassy as part of two-year long 'Bapu at 150' celebrations was also played.
